Apple Strudel Dessert Recipe |
Apple Strudel Ingredients:- 6 cups Tart Apples - sliced
- 3/4 cup Raisins
- 1 Lemon rind of - grated
- 3/4 cup Sugar
- 2 teaspoons Cinnamon
- 3/4 cup Almonds - ground
- 8oz Phyllo Pastry - thawed
- 1¾ cups Butter - melted
- 1 cup Breadcrumbs - finely crushed

Apple Strudel Instructions:- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Combine apples, raisins, lemon rind, sugar, cinnamon and almonds together and put to one side.
- Put 1 phyllo leaf on a kitchen towel and brush it with melted butter then place a second phyllo leaf on top and brush again with the melted butter.
- Repeat this process until you have 5 leaves, you should use around 1/2 cup of butter.
- Cook and stir breadcrumbs with 1/4 cup of butter until they appear lightly browned.
- Spread 3/4 cup of breadcrumbs onto the layered phyllo leaves.
- Take half of the filling and mound it in a 3 inch strip along the narrow end of the phyllo, you should have a 2 inch border remaining.
- Lift the towel, allowing it to roll the leaves over the apples then brush the top with butter and sprinkle over with 2 tablespoons of crumbs repeating the same process for the second strudel.
- Place in oven at 400 degrees and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until they appear browned.

- Allow to cool a little before serving.
