Apple Danish Dessert Recipe |
Apple Danish Ingredients:- 3 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1 cup Shortening
- 1 Egg Yolk
- 1/2 cup Milk
Filling: - 6 cups sliced peeled Apples
- 1½ cups Sugar
- 1/4 cup Butter - melted
- 2 tablespoons All-Purpose Flour
- 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
Glaze: - 1 Egg White - lightly beaten
- 1/2 cup Confectioners' Sugar
- 3 teaspoons Water

Apple Danish Instructions:- Preheat oven to 375°.
- Combine flour and salt together in a bowl then cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Combine egg yolk and milk then add to flour mixture stirring until the dough clings together.
- Roll out half of the dough on a lightly floured surface into a 15 inch x 10 inch rectangle then place it on a greased 15 inch x 10 inch x 1 inch baking pan and put to one side.
- Toss the filling ingredients together in a bowl then spoon over pastry in the pan. Roll out the remaining half of the dough into 15 inch x 10 inch rectangle then place it over the filling. Brush with egg white.
- Place in oven and bake 40 minutes or until appearance is golden brown. Allow to cool on a wire rack.
- To glaze, mix together the confectioners' sugar and enough water to create a drizzling consistency then drizzle over warm pastry.
- Serve warm or cold.
