Apple Scone Dessert Recipe

Apple Scone Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup Apple - unpeeled, chopped
  • 1/3 cup Butter
  • 1½ cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Rolled Oats - old fashioned
  • 1/4 cup chopped Dates
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/3 cup Half and Half

Apple Scone Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • In a large bowl, cut the butter into the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt with a pastry blender until the mixture resembles fine crumbs.
  • Stir in the oats, apple and dates. Stir in the egg and just enough half and half so that the dough comes away from the sides of the bowl and forms a ball.
  • Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface then gently roll in flour to coat and knead gently 10 times.
  • Roll into an 8 inch circle on an un-greased cookie sheet. Cut into 8 sections without separating. Brush with half and half then sprinkle with sugar.
  • Place in the oven and bake for 16 to 18 minutes or until appearance is golden brown.
  • Remove immediately from the cookie sheet before serving warm.
