Apple Pan Dowdy Recipe Ingredients:- 1½ cups All-Purpose Flour - plus more for dusting
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 1 stick cold Unsalted Butter
- 1 tablespoon cold Unsalted Butter - cubed
- 1/4 cup Ice Water
- 6 Large Apples - peeled, cored, cut into 1-inch chunks
- 2 tablespoons Fresh Lemon Juice
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon

Apple Pan Dowdy Recipe Instructions:- Pulse 1 1/4 cups of flour and the salt in a food processor then add 1 stick of butter and continue to pulse until pea size.
- Drizzle over the ice water and pulse until evenly moistened crumbs have formed. Turn out onto a surface and form into a ball. Flatten into a disk then wrap in plastic and refrigerate until firm.
- Preheat oven to 375° and place a baking sheet on the bottom rack.
- Toss the apples, lemon juice, sugar, the remaining 1/4 cup of flour and cinnamon in a bowl.
- Spread the apple filling in an 8x11 inch baking dish then dot with 1 tablespoon of cubed butter.
- Roll out the dough 1/8 inch thick onto a floured surface then cut it into squares of 2 inches.
- Place the squares in a patchwork pattern over the apples pressing them onto the edge of the dish making sure there are a couple of openings to allow the steam to escape.
- Place in the middle of the oven and bake for 1 hour 10 minutes or until the crust appears golden.
- Allow to cool before serving.
