Apple Turnovers Dessert Recipe |
Apple Turnovers Ingredients:- 2 cups Flour
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 3/4 cup Shortening
- 5 tablespoons Cold Water
- 1 3/4 cups Fresh Apples
- 1/3 cup Packed Brown Sugar
- 1 tablespoon Butter
- 1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon Nutmeg
- 1/3 cup Water
- 1 tablespoon Flour
- 1 teaspoon Sugar

Apple Turnovers Instructions:- Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
- Combine the salt and 2 cups of flour together and cut in the shortening. Add a tablespoon of water at a time then form the dough into a ball and roll out onto a floured surface immediately as the dough will dry out quickly.
- Combine the apples and 1/3 cup water in a saucepan and bring to a boil then reduce the heat and allow to simmer for 5 minutes. Stir in the remaining ingredients except the butter and bring to the boil again. Boil for 1 minute before adding the butter.
- Cut the dough into squares then fill each one with the apple mixture.
- Arrange the turnovers on a greased cookie sheet then place them in the oven for approximately 20 minutes or until turnovers appear golden brown.
- Remove from oven and allow to cool.
- Drizzle a confectioner’s sugar and water glaze over the turnovers before serving.
