Apricot Recipe

Apricot Recipe Ingredients:
  • 1 lb Dried Apricots
  • 4½ cups Water
  • 5 cups Sugar

    Pastry:
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Crisco
  • 1/2 cup Water

Apricot Recipe Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Combine the apricots and water together in a saucepan then boil until the apricots soften. Remove from the saucepan then mash, dice or use a blender.
  • Place the mixture back in the saucepan and add sugar. Cook slightly until the sugar dissolves and has worked into the fruit. Allow to cool.
     
  • To prepare the pastry mix the flour and salt together then cut in the shortening until it resembles coarse cornmeal. Add the water gradually, stirring until the dough is moist. Pinch off large pieces and roll out on a floured board until a similar size of a saucer.
  • Place a tablespoon of the filling on one half of the dough then fold it over and seal the edges together then place on a cookie sheet.
  • Place in the oven and bake until lightly browned.
