Southern Banana Pudding Recipe Ingredients:- 4 Large Ripe Bananas - sliced on the diagonal
- 1 cup Sugar
- 2 cups Milk
- 4 Eggs - separated
- 1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
- 1 tablespoon Butter
- 1 box Vanilla Wafers
- 4 tablespoons Sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon Cream of Tartar

Southern Banana Pudding Recipe Instructions:- Beat egg yolks then mix in the sugar, flour and salt. Mix well to combine then remove any lumps. Gradually whisk in the milk.
- Place over medium heat stirring constantly until the mixture starts to boil gently. Add the butter and vanilla then lower the heat and allow to simmer until a thick pudding consistency forms.
- Remove from heat.
- Arrange vanilla wafers in layers on the bottom of the baking dish. Cover with half of the banana slices, then half of the pudding. Repeat the layering process then put to one side.
- Preheat oven to 375°.
- Beat egg whites in a bowl until soft peaks form then add cream of tartar. Continue to beat then add the sugar one tablespoon at a time until stiff peaks form. Top the pudding layers with the meringue, allowing it to touch the the sides of the dish.
- Place in the oven and bake for 10 minutes or until meringue appears golden.
- Serve cold or warm.
