Gingerbread Cookie

Gingerbread Cookie Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup Butter Shortening
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cloves
  • 1/2 cup Molasses
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 tablespoon Vinegar
  • 2  1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour

Gingerbread Cookie Instructions:
  • Heat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Mix shortening in a mixing bowl on high speed for 30 seconds.
  • Add sugar, baking powder, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, and cloves.
  • Mix until combined, scraping bowl occasionally then mix in the molasses, egg, and vinegar until well combined.
  • Mix in as much flour as you can with the mixer then stir in remaining flour.
  • Divide dough in half. Cover with plastic wrap, and chill for at least 4 hours.
  • Grease a cookie sheet with butter shortening.
  • On a lightly floured surface roll the dough to 1/8 inch thick for 2 and 1/2 round cookies.
  • Cut dough with your cookie cutters. Place cookies 1 inch apart on baking sheet.
  • Bake round cookies for 6 minutes. The edges of cookies should be lightly browned.
  • Cool cookies for 1 minute on cookie sheet then transfer to wire rack and cool completely.
Gingerbread Cookie Cooking Time:
  • Cooking time 10 minutes.
  • Store in a airtight Jar or Tin if any left.
Gingerbread Cookie Serving Instructions:
  • Serve with Tea or coffee or just a nice Ice Cold Milk.
